Groundskeeping

C had drill this weekend, but the weather ended up being rather nice for a small amount of gardening and grounds-keeping.

On Friday, we visited with our Amish friends to get some more fresh cut hemlock. It was cold outside but Tammy and her friend came to visit anyways and scoped out our property.

When C went to drill, I got right to tending to my garden. I added a few more veggies to the list!

New Additions:
Sweet Corn
Snap Peas
Basil
MORE Tomatoes

Needless to say, I hope my veggies grow as quickly as my  grass. Seriously, I mowed grass for about 2 hours!

I also wanted to share these pictures I snapped from G-Ma's rock garden. The deer ate everything this year, including the rhododendrons. Just when you thought they were gone for good....a few flowers popped up!

It's pretty sad, but the new blooms bring it hope.

Close up!

Sadly, this one didn't get any flowers this year.

While I was doing that, RobSr. got the gutters installed, and I cleaned them up with my Vinegar cleaner. Featherweight continued weed removal and discovered some actual flowers under all of that mess, who would have thought.

Our rain barrel

Porch gutter!
You will notice there is a spout at the bottom for filling up a bucket or watering can :)

Yes, that used to be all weeds. Featherweight was able to salvage a Bleeding Heart plant and that ground cover still in the picture. You can't tell, but it has yellow flowers on it.

Next time Trapper Ray wants to mow the grass for me, flat surfaces are off limits. He mows for a living and would be better equipped to handle this hillside :)

For ease of mowing in the future, I needed to smooth out all of the clumps in the yard that were left from the Bobcat machine.
It's hard to tell, but all the newly spread dirt used to be big clumps of mud.

I hope to put more grass seed down, and see what happens.

As for the Porchouse, the electric is basically done, the wall insulation is installed and we are in the home stretch! Side note: Did you know there is such a thing as a "screen-making kit"? I didn't, but RobSr. whipped up a screen in no time.

We tried to stage what the interior would look like.

Our new toilet!

With the warm weather, comes new creatures. We have so many toads. I also saw a few salamanders and some snakes. I suppose that is life in the sticks :)

Salamander!

Those are not all wires, look closely to see the snakes!

Can you see the dragonflies??

I HATE dragonflies. Snakes, toads, salamanders, bring it on. Give me a dragonfly and I'm toast. There were about 492589158 of them. When I would push the mower through the new, tall grass, they would fly all over the place.

On Saturday I celebrated Thanksgiving in June with my friends. The Turkey was as good as I expected, and it was nice to have all of the fixins' a few months early.
