Cleaning House...Porchouse, that is.

C and I ventured to the property this weekend. We didn't have much on the agenda which is great. We did, however, accomplish some miscellaneous tasks that we have been wanting to get around to doing:

First bathroom shelf installed.

We found this hook for free. I painted it country blue, and it will work for now.

C applying the finishing touches!

These hooks were originally brass. I hit them with some metallic black spray paint and we hung them up high enough so that towels won't get in the way.

Additional bathroom shelving. I am going to make a curtain to hang underneath so that way you don't see all of the random items we are storing.
My Aunt was getting rid of this county shower curtain. I happily took it off of her hands, and here it sits!
Carpets have been added! I snagged these on Craigslist, and the seller was getting rid of 10 of them in various sizes for a very small price. No worries, I didn't make this purchase alone, I took Linda with me....strength in numbers right??
We were able to fit a small, medium and large in the Porchouse

WELCOME!

After working all day, it was study time on the porch. We also saw a deer, things are looking up!

From CO to PA

This weekend our friend, Tom, and his girlfriend, Lindsay came to visit all the way from Colorado, which is apparently the forest fire capital of the country this year.

While it's hot in Colorado, it's a dry heat. There is nothing like a nice 93 degree, sticky day in the Burgh. Most of their weekend wasn't too bad weather wise. That is, until they graced us with their presence on Sunday.

We wanted to show them the property, so we picked them up and obviously C had to stop for donuts. We walked around the property a bit and then ventured to pick some blueberries at the PYOB farm. I neglected to take pics of this activity. After that, I made a blueberry coffee cake in our amazing convection oven, and we had some lunch.

Then it was off to the water! Tom knew a guy that wanted to lend us his boat:

The raft boat!

Tom, obviously exerting himself more than C

We thought the perfect place to go for dinner would be Primanti Bros. While Tom has tasted this fine delicacy before, Lindsay has never been to PA. (I wanted to note that spell check didn't like our restaurant of choice, and tried to spell out P-R-I-M-A-T-E-S)

Not bad for a first timer. I was truly impressed that she got an original sandwich with all the fixins'. It took me a few attempts before I no longer got my slaw on the side.

We had a great visit and C and I hope to venture to Colorado next year.

In other news, we were able to lightly furnish the Porchouse prior to our visitors. Here are some pics:

Remember the panel box?? GONE!

BP and Tammy got me this barn star. Looks good next to our Barn Door

C is hanging the last of my canvas paintings. Tom actually got me these a few Christmases ago and they are fantastic

See those chippy white frames above the wood burner? Yard sale - $1.00

And from the same Yard Sale - $3.00 (the red paint looks good)

C and Trapper Ray used some gravel to make a more "formal" walkway.

Another view...

I am so excited to head to Roger's Flea Market tomorrow with some of the Cavs. I have a list of knick-knacks to be on the hunt for. C is going to come along because he has never been there before (GASP), and he thinks he is going to buy a duck.

Happy 4th of July!

The 4th of July was super busy. C and I didn't waste anytime. Before people arrived to eat, I tended to my garden and patched some skylights.

I recruited Trapper Ray and the Big Bean to help husk some corn. Apparently it was a contest. I didn't win.

Ryan obviously wanted to  join in.

This must be the angry face he makes when he is hungry.

RobSr. brought his own grill so that he could cook for the masses.

While the food was cooking, I was busy prepping my s'more station:

Eat your heart out, Martha Stewart

Birddog Rob, Trapper Ray and the Big Bean ventured to buy some fireworks. When it got dark, we headed to the property to set them off. I am bummed that I don't have any pictures. I was scared and hiding behind various people and/or chairs. However, the madness went on for hours. I am going to be picking up remnants forever.

BP and Tammy showed up later in the evening for their weekend at the property. They brought Sammy (basically, the only dog I like).  The Greek decided we could go for a short tour of his place. And I took the opportunity to take some pictures of the steps we added to the Rock this year. The Greek did most of the work. We spray painted them with non-skid paint. We even have patio stones. Fanciest tree stand ever.

Welcome!

The next day, the Cavs came to visit! We took a stroll before getting to work.

Mrs. Cav is pretty good with the axe.

This is what the front looked like after all the chopping was done.

We also got this new addition:

Mr. Cav tending to the fire

Meanwhile, back in the porchouse:

Ta-Da

Now we can finish the bathroom walls.

The next day the door was completed and I got my new mailbox installed. I also found some old red spray paint and I used it to paint my Barn Stars that I found at a yard sale last year.

Barn door track!

The bathroom now has a door!

I sealed the mailbox post the day before.

RIP ratty old thing.

The NEW and IMPROVED 167

I'm going to put them on the side of the Porchouse where the Porch is.

We met BP and Tammy for breakfast on Sunday before they hit the road to head back South. Sammy was so excited to see his mom!

Our friend Tom will be in from Colorado before you know it.
