Xtreme Woodage

I am fully aware that is not how you spell the word "extreme". If you want to know how it originated, just ask the Sleeveless one. It's a tough job having the letter "X" in the I Spy game, but someone has to do it.

Saturday morning started out just like the last, EARLY. C went to coffee hour with the Greek and The Sleeveless one arrived bright and early, just in time for breakfast. Shortly after, a fire arose at the property. I stayed behind to brew another 12 cups. Before you know it, Featherweight and RobSr.  came rolling in. I hitched a ride with them to the property.

C snagged a brand new burn barrel from Uncle Ron to use on our property, and he couldn't wait to start burning in it. He needed a few demo tools to put some holes in it, and the rest was easy-peasy.

Just when I thought there was NO MORE WOOD on this trailer to remove, RobSr. grabbed his favorite crowbar and got to work on the 2 outbuildings that were attached to the back of the mobile home.

The first architectural masterpiece was the "firewood storage" at one point. Basically everything on it was rotting away. Observe:

Surprisingly, the snow on top didn't collapse it immediately.

Move out of the way for my trustee crowbar, we have dubbed him, Old Yellow

It was no match for Old Yellow

The Greek decided he would pay us a visit, to see what all the commotion was about. And there was obviously more wood to fuel the fire now.

Contemplating how to detach the roof.

Weird.

C dragging the roof.

The second building was used to store the water system. It fell over with just one push...it even took down our TV antenna. For the life of me, I haven't figured out why one homestead requires a GINORMOUS antenna and 3 satellite dishes. To each their own I suppose.  This girl would rather watch grass grow.

With the buildings out of our way, we could officially begin tearing off the final layer of aluminum goodness. Despite everything else burning up quite nicely, the aluminum siding needs stacked in a pile. I decide that it's time for lunch and take Featherweight along for the journey. I prepared a big pot of chili in the crock pot for the crew. And Mrs. Greek kindly made us some brownies and another 12 cups (is anyone keeping track of the cup drinkage??)

We ventured back up the hill with the lunch sled in tow. With much more work still to be done, we got back to work right after stuffing our faces  eating. J came to lend some helping hands also!

QUESTION: How many screws does it take to put in a window?
ANSWER: Too many! I

In awe of the many screws in the window

With the windows out of the way, it was time for the siding to come off.
C - starting to remove the siding.

Annnnd, it's down

Although everything left appears to be aluminum, there is still plenty of wood for our two fires. Notice the recycling bin below. This is probably 1 of 10 that were found on the property. HOW MANY GARBAGE CANS AND RECYCLING BINS DOES ONE PERSON NEED??? Clearly, the previous owners were hoarders collectors.

We got the lighting up in running and kept on burning:

Thank goodness for the snow.

I was exhausted after a day of hard work and we went to sleep early. Tomorrow is the day that I have been waiting for since we purchased the property:

THE

TRAILER

IS

GONE...
