Heat Wave

Yes, that's right, Channel 11 told me to expect temperatures near 70 degrees today! It was a nice break, and would also melt the remaining snow so that we could pick up some stray trash throughout the yard. Warm weather means, no Carharts. So obviously I wore my flannel-lined jeans...
Laugh it up, LL Bean would appreciate my efforts. Hey, it's pink flannel.

It was a Drill weekend for C. I, admittedly thought this meant I had to work double hard, to make up for the lack of a person. Lucky for us, C drills about 20 minutes away from the property, so he was back after dinner to offer some assistance.

When we first arrived, this is what we were looking at:

In my own words:

1. Remove Black Stuff
2. Remove Pink Stuff
3. Remove wooden slats

Bright and early, the Greek came to see the status of our work.

To my pleasant surprise, Mr. Sleeveless and EJ came to lend helping hands as well.
Notice the "hard hat' that was hidden inside of the roof.

We were quickly reminded that the roof is not made for standing on:

Look closely, RobSr. obviously fell through the roof.
Also inside the roof, we found a field mouse, that EJ wanted as a pet, but it was just too sly on the roof for her to catch. There were also some old steel beer cans. Must be rough, building a scheisty roof and all that a beverage, or six was necessary. The most interesting part about this, is that there were about 17 recycling bins within reach. I suppose it's still much easier to just leave the cans under the insulation.

By lunchtime, we had reached the halfway point:
Notice the toilet, still sitting pretty despite the wreckage.

The Greek calls lunch time, Meals on Wheels, and it comes complete with this lovely carrying case.
Go ahead Pinterest, eat your heart out.

With a little more demolition, and a few more trips to the fire, we were left with just the floor.

Ta-Da--the dance floor

Darkness was upon us and I wondered how we were going to see, with only lighting on the porch.

ENTER: hillbilly lighting

I knew that toilet would come in handy for something.

We decided to go have dinner with the Greek and his wife, a/k/a My Amazing Grandma, to celebrate her Birthday!

I baked her an tasty cake, Almond White Wedding Cake

C arrived just in time to prep for the floor removal tomorrow and to enjoy another magnificent fire:

As the proud Army Wife of a U.S. Soldier,  I couldn't think of a better way to make this property our own than to display the American Flag.
