The weather was so nice this past weekend, we had a cookout on Saturday and wrapped things up a bit early. The Greek and his wife ventured and dined with us. It's nice to have fun neighbors :)
First thing Saturday, the Greek and I headed to my tree stand on the rock. The Greek decided it needed some new steps, if you recall from my previous post. Since then he has made it fully equipped with a nice railing and we sprayed it with some textured paint, and added some beautiful patio stones. I think I need a welcome mat!!

The final product. I'll have to sneak up this weekend for a picture with the new patio stones!
C and I realized we didn't like the weeds coming up in our nice new driveway. So I took to Google to try my luck at a homemade week-killing recipe. I found one that uses white vinegar and Epsom salts. I already had both on hand, so I figured I would try it out before investing in something else.
See how they just decided to creep up
The product
It kinda worked. This picture was taken 24 hours after I sprayed the weeds. You can clearly see that they are yellowing, but they didn't disappear like I would have wanted.
C and RobSr. decided they should fix the pipe for the septic while the weather was nice. In their adventures, they found this little guy:
We tried to let him go by some water. Don't know if he made it out okay.
I also noticed my grass is looking good. A few more good rains and it should really take root.
We were out of wood to complete the floor boards, so C and RobSr. finished up the last bay of insulation for the ceiling.
Obviously, the circle is where the light will go.
Ta-Da!!!
I took some updated pictures of the floor.
It's too nice to even walk on. I am going to look at some carpets I found on Craigslist this week. I am thinking just some nice area rugs will do fine. It was a good deal. 10 rugs in a variety of sizes for $75!!!
One of C's co-workers was kind enough to donate some of her flowers for our property. After leaf blowing the front lawn, I became aware that the previous owner's must have had some sort of flower ring made up, once upon a time. It needed dug out and whatnot. Featherweight took that on as her main focus. And it ended up looking great.
These were my favorite! Pretty and Pink
The flower ring we discovered under all of the leaves.
Gram gave me this wind chime for in the center.
I cannot wait until they all perk up again. They were sitting for a few days.
C and I joined the Arbor Day Society. In return for our membership, we scored 10 FREE white dogwood trees. They send them in the mail and they basically look like sticks.
Silly me forgot to take a picture of the before. I planted each of them in some pots and stored them behind the Greek's garage. I will take a photo on Saturday! I figured it would be best to start them there, rather than have them be trampled on immediately by an animal. We would like to line the driveway with them. 5 on each side!
Now that everything is looking green, we noticed there are already quite a few dogwood trees on the property. How pretty!
I snapped some pics of the new pipe for the septic:
I have really taken a liking to getting the yard cleaned up. I spent hours leaf blowing and grass cutting and using the push mower to mulch up the leaves!
My weapon of choice
C decided to try to take care of the leaves around the phone pole by putting gravel there:
We also had our first cookout!
The Greek decided that we should have this grill, because he didn't need such a big grill. I am on to him though. He knew if he gave us the grill, he would still get to eat the food, he just didn't have to cook it anymore :)
RobSr. was the chef.
Now that the trees are green, I took a view of the porchouse!
Lookin good!
